Program Description – Toddler

Our Toddler Program – Age: 18 months to 2.5 years

Staff/Child ratio: 1 staff for every 5 children. (2 rooms – up to 10 children in each room with 2 staff)

In our toddler room(s) children will be engaged in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities to enhance their growth and development through the use of purposefully planned learning experiences.  Children will develop language skills through daily interactions with their peers and educators in the room.  Through play-based opportunities toddlers will develop social skills and enhance their interactions with their peers.  Using information obtained from focused observations and documentation our educators will also provide a variety of activities to further both their fine and gross motor skills as well as stimulate creativity and cognitive development.

As children demonstrate readiness, they will begin potty training and developing self-help skills such as eating independently, dressing and undressing.  Educators will support each child during this new learning phase to ensure self-confidence and success.

Parent/educator relationships continue to be a priority in our toddler program.Similar to the infant program, our staff provides daily written information forms to communicate nap times, food intake, diaper changes/toileting and activities.  Each child’s progress will be documented in a portfolio containing observations and photos which are readily available.
